DESCRIPTION:

On this episode of Out of Frame, we’ll take a look at some of the themes in Marvel’s latest series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and discuss their significance to the Marvel universe and ours as well.

Picking up where Avengers: Endgame left off, after half the global population was snapped back into existence, the world is in desperate need of new heroes and economic structure. Unfortunately, governments around the world decided to respond by centrally concentrating power in the hands of an elite few, the Global Repatriation Council. And just like all other historical incidences of centralized government, they’re failing pretty bad.

So when a group of super soldiers led by Karli Morgenthau starts raiding supplies from the GRC and blowing up buildings with people inside, it’s not hard to understand why. What’s truly hard to understand, however, is the most productive way to rebuild a population from the ground up.

Contrary to the show's depiction, violence is never the answer, nor is centralized power. The real answer is to allow the freedom to let entrepreneurial creativity flourish.
