If The Lord of the Rings Is Racist, So Are Its Critics

In the last few years, we've seen a rising trend of of activists mining older content to criticize it for being problematic by modern standards. Recently, The Lord of the Rings has become a target of outrage over its "outdated" depictions of race.
At the same time, a battle is raging in the culture over Critical Race Theory, "Wokism", and what kinds of ideas are appropriate to teach in public schools.
These are all really complex and contentious issues, but we're going to tackle them as fairly and clearly as we can on this episode of Out of Frame.
